China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd. (“China Unicom”) was established on January 6, 2009 based on the merger between the original China Netcom and China Unicom. In addition to over 130 overseas business access points (PoPs), it has subsidiaries in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across China and many other countries and regions around the world. It owns a modern communication network with nationwide coverage, global reach and worldwide customer service system, and operates a wide range of services, including fixed and mobile communication, domestic and international communication facility services, data communication, network access, value-added telecom services and ICT-related system integration. Its current subscriber base stands at 460 million.
China Unicom is the only central state-owned enterprise (SOE) to adopt group-wide mixed-ownership reform. In 2021, the company ranked 260th in the Fortune Global 500.
